The reserve is positioned between the Mkuze Game Reserve and the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (a World Heritage Site). The landscape is lush with grassy woodlands, and broad, sweeping mountain ranges. It is the home of the famous Big Five. Set into a cliff face that overlooks Leopard Rock, &Beyond Phinda Rock Lodge is an architectural dream, combining Malian influences with pueblo panache. Each unit incorporating an en-suite bathroom with outdoor showers, private plunge pool, minibar, private viewing deck.

Early morning and evening game drives in open Land Rovers, sometimes out into the middle of the bush for a safari breakfast, or out to the Mzinene River for a morning boat cruise.
