Okavango Delta Accommodation Chitaba Camp
Chitabe Camp is located in a 22,000ha private concession area on an island in the south-east of the Okavango Delta. A mosaic of habitats – woods, wetlands, and grasslands – surrounding the camp. This is a predator hotspot and a prime game viewing area. Grab your camera for some of the best wildlife photo-ops in Africa.
Each of the eight tents has twin beds, en-suite facilities, and indoor and outdoor showers. Hardwood floors extend to a private verandah with lovely floodplain views.
The main thatched area features a lounge, bar and open-sided dining platform. Meals are served on the thatched deck or in a lantern traditional boma where traditional meals are prepared on open coals. Rich, earthy colours and African décor prevail, A secluded hide in front of the camp offers guests a relaxing spot to view the wildlife. Chitabe also has a small curio shop selling traditional Okavango crafts and baskets made by the local staff.
Chitabe offers a classic land-based safari with morning and evening game drives and the option for guided bushwalks. The mix of Okavango and Kalahari makes for an excellent home to an abundant array of wildlife. Giraffe, buffalo, and elephant, which in turn support the larger predators: lion, leopard, spotted hyaena, cheetah and wild dog.
